You would train to run a marathon, so why wouldn't you prepare for the potentially most laborious event of your life?

The objective of this Active Birth workshop is to introduce expecting couples to yoga poses and techniques to help with labour and birth, allowing them to feel more confident about the upcoming birth of the baby. We will practice different techniques and skills to prepare the body and mind so that expecting parents can take a more proactive role during pregnancy and labour.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • the different stages of labour

  • how to use yoga asana and movement to promote labour and cope with pain

  • how to use breathing, visualisation, vocalisation and massage in labour

  • the theory of Optimal Foetal Positioning (OFP); how to encourage OFP in pregnancy and labour

  • the role of Dad or Birth Partner during labour
