About the event

This session will include 30 minutes of postnatal Pilates with Karen and 30 minutes of postnatal/mom & baby yoga with Holly. You're welcome to join the class on your own or with baby.

Pilates targets the deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment.  It helps to reshape the body, which will become longer, leaner and more toned.  It will also improve your posture, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility, and it is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.

During the yoga portion, you will practise some simple breathing techniques to help calm the mind and cope with the stresses of parenting. You will also practise stretches and yoga poses to stretch and strengthen your postpartum body. We will engage babies in some movements and gentle stretches too.

Variations will be provided for mamas with different experience levels, and special instructions will be given for mamas with conditions such as diastasis recti and pelvic floor weakness. Please make sure that you are cleared to exercise by your medical provider before attending the class.

Once registered, you will receive an email detailing what you need to bring to the class.

About Karen

Karen Leung is an experienced prenatal and postnatal Pilates instructor. She founded Mindful Pilates in 2017 with the mission to help people release, realign and restore their body through mindful movements.

Her teachings lead students to discover new movement potentials, regain better alignment, develop strength and establish deeper connections between their body and mind. All of which, are especially beneficial for women throughout their pregnancy, and to facilitate childbirth and postpartum care.

Karen is dedicated to promoting safe and effective pre and post-natal Pilates exercises for better women’s health, and she welcomes collaboration with all like-minded experts.

About Holly

Holly is an experienced prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher, parent educator, yoga teacher trainer, and mother of two boys. Her mission is to provide education and resources to inspire parents to have a positive pregnancy, childbirth and parenting experience. With her teachings, she hopes to lead mothers on a path of self exploration that yoga provides - so that they discover the amazing strength and knowledge that women innately possess. Holly has been collaborating with postnatal experts to curate information sharing sessions for moms.
