About the Event
Does the thought of giving birth to a baby fill you with fear? Join Lindsay and Holly in a workshop to learn tools and techniques to help you approach labour and birth calmly and confidently. We will practise different breathing techniques to help you through different stages of labour, and poses to facilitate birth and manage labour pain. This workshop is perfect for expecting mothers or couples looking to embark on a positive, empowering birthing experience.
This workshop will cover the topics below:
- What is Hypnobirthing?
- The role of hormones during labour
- Basic anatomy related to pregnancy and birth
- What is labour pain?
- Different stages of labour
- Breathing techniques suitable for the different stages of labour
- The theory of Optimal Foetal Positioning (OFP)
- Poses and movement to (i) promote OFP, and (ii) facilitate birth
A guided relaxation and Q&A session will also be included. After the workshop, you will be given an informative handout to help you consolidate the knowledge you receive. Birth partners are strongly encouraged to attend the workshop with moms so that they are adequately prepared to support moms during the labour process.
This workshop is designed to complement traditional antenatal education provided by medical providers, but the information provided does not constitute medical advice.
To ensure that every participant receive our full attention, we keep our workshop size small (max 8 pairs) - so space is limited! We require a minimum of 3 groups to run the event and reserve the right to cancel the event with 24-hours notice if we don't have the required number of participants.
Lindsay is the founder of Calm Hong Kong, where she works with pregnant mamas to help achieve a calmer mind, stronger body, and a more connected self. She is also Co-host of the Mom Body Soul Podcast, created along side ZigFitMama to build that much needed support in the community.
What began nearly 18 years ago from a love of yoga, has grown into a passion for supporting all things motherhood. Being a pre and post natal yoga specialist has led Lindsay to hone her skills on breathing for birth and become an educator for the truly transformative Calm Birth School Method of Hypnobirthing.
Her classes will help empower you and give you confidence in pregnancy, birth and beyond and remind you can have a positive birth experiences no matter your birth path.
Holly is an experienced prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher, parent educator, yoga teacher trainer, mother of a toddler and an expecting mom.
Her mission is to provide education and resources to inspire parents to have a positive pregnancy, childbirth and parenting experience. With her teachings, she hopes to lead mothers on a path of self exploration that yoga provides - so that they discover the amazing strength and knowledge that women innately possess. Since learning from the amazing Spinning Babies community of midwives, Holly's focus has been educating parents about the physiology of birth, and the use of balance, movement and gravity to facilitate birth.
